Structural wheel repairs
Bends, buckles, cracks and fractures in alloy wheels can compromise their integrity and safety. The good news is that most can be repaired. The repair process will differ depending on the nature and severity of the damage. Whether it's cracks, buckles, bends or gouges incurred from hitting a pothole or road debris at speed, our team may employ a combination of welding, heat and straightening to reshape, and meticulously repair and restore your damaged wheel.
Welding alloy wheel cracks
We always start with an assessment of the wheel to assess th extent of the damage. Sometimes cracks are accompanied by a buckle and this will be fixed first. Using advanced high grade ali welding rods, our skilled Zurich assured TIG welder can seamlessly repair the vast majority of cracks. We then ensure the strength and durability of the weld by meticulously grinding and smoothing the weld area, thereby restoring the wheel's integrity and safe functionality.
Bent & buckled wheels
Bends and buckles in alloy wheels can happen due to harsh driving conditions or accidental impact. Hitting a porthole at speed or even a relatively minor brush with a kerb can result in a bent rim. Our expert team use specialised equipment to apply heat and controlled pressure, carefully reshaping the wheel back to its original form, followed by welding to repair any associated cracks, and finally grinding and smoothing the weld area, to ensure the wheel is safe to use again.
Bent wheel straightening
Misaligned or bent wheels (horizontally or longitudinally) can significantly affect the performance and safety of your vehicle, manifesting itself as steering wheel vibration and / or wheel wobble. Using cutting-edge electro-mechanical technology and applying heat directly to the affected area of the wheel we can realign and straighten most buckled alloy wheels back to their true shape. We then spin the wheels up on a balancer to ensure that they are road worth ensure a smoother and safer drive.
